Immersed Visor

Helped Immersed translate its proven VR productivity platform into the hardware architecture for its first dedicated headset.

Challenge
Immersed had built one of the leading VR productivity platforms, but Visor was its first move into dedicated hardware. The product vision was ambitious: a lightweight headset built specifically for work, with high-resolution displays, inside-out tracking, hand tracking, and color passthrough in a compact consumer electronics package.

To make that possible, the team needed hardware architecture support that could connect Immersed’s software use case to the physical layout of cameras, sensors, optics, plastics, electronics, and flex circuits.

Approach
As part of a small consultant team assembled for the program, I worked across early architecture, packaging, and detailed mechanical design from concept development through Alpha handoff.

My largest contribution was the camera architecture. I developed a custom layout for 6DoF tracking, SLAM, video see-through, and hand tracking, configured specifically around Immersed’s productivity use case. The solution used existing hardware in a new arrangement, balancing tracking performance, field of view, industrial design constraints, internal packaging, and FPC routing.

My role also included plastic part design and the detailed mechanical work needed to package complex VR/MR systems inside a compact headset.

Outcome
The work gave Immersed a hardware foundation for Visor as the company moved from a proven software platform into its first dedicated headset program.
